About the Readers

After three decades living in and working with Camphill organizations in North America,  Bernard is now a Certified Financial Planner with Arista Advisory Group. In this work he  begins by understanding a person’s life questions, “Who am I? What is my work in the  world?”, and from this base establishes a financial plan is aligned with the individual’s life  journey.

Bernard is a former trustee and past president of the Camphill Association of North America. He served as a director of the Board of the Camphill Foundation from 1992 until  2010 and as its CEO from 2003 until 2010. Bernard was a co-founder of the North  American Council for Curative Education and Social Therapy. Inspired by the wisdom Karl König brought to the world, Bernard contributes to the  Institute’s audiobook recording project. Reading "Brothers and Sisters"

“After a year at Emerson College and graduating from Antioch College in Ohio, I settled in at  the Camphill School-Beaver Run in Glenmoore, PA, where I have lived with my wife Else for  over 50 years. We raised a wonderful family of children, and I contributed to the life of  Camphill as a gardener, houseparent, teacher, school administrator, and in many other  ways. I am a Class Holder in the School of Spiritual Science in the Anthroposophical Society. My hobbies are playing the trumpet and geocaching. I am now of retirement age and appreciate the opportunity to help build up the Karl  Koenig audiobook collection. The lectures I recorded seemed like spiritual treasures to me, and most worthy to share with a wide audience. Themes concerning Michael and His  mission and three-folding have been life-long interests.”

After dropping out of college (twice), I joined the Army and was fortunate to find myself stationed in Germany in the midst of the Vietnam war. Greatly appreciating the language  and the culture/history, I stayed in Germany when my Army time was finished. Here I was  again blessed by good fortune: I met Jonitha and through her Rudolf Steiner and  Anthroposophy. I immediately recognized Rudolf Steiner as one who knew. A universe and  life full of meaning is vastly preferable to the meaninglessness I had previously thought to  have been man’s lot on earth. After eleven years of life together, Jonitha and I found in  Camphill Village Copake a setting in which we could work and live with our ideals, and we  now reside in Camphill Ghent. In the writings of Karl Koenig I experience a strong gesture  of healing, understanding and love; thus I was very willing to participate in the project of making recordings of his work.”

Peter Batson, born in 1953, lived and worked with his wife Etta in the Sheiling School  Camphill Community in Thornbury, near Bristol, England, from 1975 -2008. He was a class  teacher, Upper School teacher, religion teacher, Service holder, Camphill course leader and  tutor and member of the Camphill Meeting (management group). One of his greatest  interests has always been in acting and drama, producing theatre in service of community  life. From 1987-2008 he was also very active in the English-Welsh Region of Camphill, the  Association of Camphill Communities in UK and Ireland, and the international Camphill  Movement Group. For a further 18 years he has continued to work independently for the  Camphill Impulse in the world, and is trustee of various organisations, including The Mount 
Community and Camphill Foundation UK & Ireland.
